This bike rack is obviously built for heavy duty use. It has a capacity for 5 bikes, which in itself is an admirable feat, because most bike racks with a capacity of 5 bikes cannot actually handle the weight. This rack, however, performs beautifully under heavy weights. It weighs 33 pounds and has a maximum carrying capacity of 150 pounds. The rack can handle rough weather conditions and is steady on all types of terrains. The Stay Put cradle and anti-sway cage hold the bikes firmly at all times. Thule’s T3 Cradles lock the bikes into place while allowing complete adjustment along the arms. The arms even fold down when not in use, so as to stay out of your way.
Another convenient feature is that the rack folds down for easy storage, so you can store it as per your convenience without too much of a hassle. The rack is also easy to install and it takes hardly any time to do so, making this rack easy to use and efficient. The Roadway tilts away from the car for trunk access, which is quite an expedient feature; but you will need around 3 people to tilt the rack if it has 5 bikes attached. The rack even comes with Thule’s patented Stinger Swinger hitch that converts quickly from a 2”receiver to a 1.25” receiver, straight out of the box. Clearly, this rack is not only well-built but is also user-friendly.
The rack is a little on the expensive side as most Thule bike racks are, but it is definitely worth every penny you spend. It comes with the 915 Roadway hitch mount bike rack, all the required mounting hardware, the necessary securing straps and the instruction guide. The Roadway also comes with limited lifetime warranty.
All in all, this bike is the perfect option for you if you often go biking with your family and friends. It’s easy to use and convenient. It also holds up well under heavy weights with no strain at all. Its extra security features like the anti-sway cage, T3 cradle and high strength steel frame protect the bike’s finish and make for easy transport without so much of a wobble. It’s definitely an excellent, well constructed rack.
